It was perfect and her internal dialogue on it was also perfect. Oh, I just squealed in delight at the way that Alosa’s control over her siren nature evolved. The stakes are even higher in book two as Alosa confronts her parent’s history and her father’s secrets. Expect a lot of pirate shenanigans, chasing treasure, taking vengeance and ocean battles. It wasn’t as obvious in book one given that she was mostly separated from them, but it’s very present in book two. Alosa also has a strong found family in her crew. She is such a strong, merciless pirate when need be, but she’s also a girl trying to figure out her family relationships and what to do with this distracting pirate boy that is technically her prisoner.
